In 1984, we opened the first curly hair salon creating the curly hair segment in the beauty industry and the first curly hair line in the United States to cater to all types of curls.

For so many people, Ouidad’s “Carve and Slice®” method for cutting curly hair was life-changing; because millions of curly haired people could finally embrace their own natural beautiful curls. The idea that straight hair was the beauty ideal was shattered. Together, we proved the revolutionary idea that curly hair is beautiful to the beauty industry.

In 2011, the beauty industry acknowledged our impact with “The Great Idea Award”. First ever awarded for: “Creating a new product category, revolutionizing an existing category, satisfying an unmet consumer need, changing consumer buying habits, and cultivating an untapped market”.

The curly hair community is passionate, united, and strong!

We’re continuing our passion and our goal is two-fold: 1) to empower the community of curl experts everywhere with the knowledge and understanding to help and empower clients going through cancer treatments; and 2) to fund the researchers who will find a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.
