Books by Ouidad

I wrote this book to share my personal and professional journey bringing the acceptance of curly hair to the United States and working together with an awesome group of immigrant women.

“Help me. Fix me.”

That was the desperate plea I’d often hear from new clients. Every person that walked into our New York City hair salon for the first time had one thing in common. They’d grown up hating their curly hair. These four words have changed many people’s lives and helped build the curly hair industry in the United States.

In 2002 I was diagnosed with the same disease, at the same age, as was my mom. Breast cancer took my mother from me when I was 25 years old. Her loss embedded an empty feeling inside me and took a piece of me with her.

Though I made a full recovery, I vowed that my battle against breast cancer would remain ongoing.

My husband Peter and I established Curls for a Cure® because we firmly believe that we can beat breast cancer by helping fund the research that creates new treatments and ultimately finds a cure for this devastating disease.

Curls for a Cure® is proud to partner since 2004 with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and its mission to advance the world’s most promising research to end breast cancer.

100% of the profits from the sale of this book will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
